new jersey. innocence 10 news obtained a copy of the inspect history. osha did penalize the company in the past for what the agency considers serious violations. for this project, the fire chief says the company was operating properly. >> there's this whole project was properly permitted. they had all their inspections and licensing. that was all done. again, if you look at the parking lot, this is a large old blockbuster building. it's only a little piece left. i would say 98.9% of it's down. this is the last piece that was there. unfortunately, something happened where that wall came down on that worker. >> reporter: the prosecutoprose office had people out here investigating in addition to the osha investigators. they will determine if there was any wrongdoing or if this was an accident. i called the number for mancuso. i wasn't able to get ahold of anyone. back out here live, what has

happened in the past half hour. crews quickly put up this temporary fence to secure the area around the construction site. now i'm going to try to find out what happened in the minutes before the fatal collapse that buried one worker under debris. i will have an update for you coming up at 6:00. new at 5:00, pennsylvania's top prosecutor says she will release a report monday into how police and prosecutors handled the jerry sandusky case. she said the review will be released at a news conference at the state capitol. she questioned why it took three years for charges to be filed against the former penn state defensive coordinator. she argued that her predecessors took too long and wasted time while a suspected sexual abuser remained free. sandusky was convicted on 45 counts of sexual abuse of ten boys in 2012 and is serving a 30 to 60-year state prison

sentence. two other administrators are awaiting trial on allegations that they misled or lied to the grand jury in the case. new information this evening about a shooting that injured two students inside a philadelphia charter school last winter. dante walker will spent at least six months in prison. he was an alumni mentor at that school. prosecutors say he gave the gun to a student who accidentally fired it injuring two classmates at the north philadelphia school. walker brought the gun for the student who feared being attacked on the way home from school. the shooter is serving two yearing in a juvenile facility. sky force 10 over a crash on the atlantic city expressway. it threw all six people in a pickup truck from the vehicle. it happened in hamilton

township. all of the crash victims are from philadelphia. ted greenberg is at atlanta care regional center where some of the injured are being treated. i know you have been talking to investigators about the moments leading up to this tragedy. >> reporter: state police tell me they got a report that prior to the accident the pickup truck was driving erratically on the expressway. right now, three people are in serious condition here at the hospital in atlantic city. two others are critical at cooper in camden, including a 4-year-old. she doesn't want to be named but tells us she came upon the mangled pickup truck less than a minute after it hit a guardrail and flipped over around 7:00 this morning throwing out six people from philadelphia on to the atlantic city expressway, three from the cab, three from the bed. >> there was a woman laying in the road on the left and other people laying in the middle of

the highway. a child was laying on the right-hand side of the road being helped by a driver from the car in front of me. >> reporter: a 4-year-old boy in the front of the truck and the diver, 45-year-old roselyn kornegay were both critically injured and airlifted from the scene. 35-year-old james dennis also in the cab was killed. authorities say two men and a woman were illegally riding in the bed of the truck. they suffered less serious injuries. >> being that all six were ejected from the vehicle, it's safe to say that they were not wearing their safety belts. >> their clothes and lots and lots of beer cans. it was just a horrible mess. >> reporter: state police don't know if alcohol was a factor in the crash or why the driver lost control but say someone called them right before the accident to say the truck was erratic on the road. >> once that call came in, it was only shortly after that, a minute, two minutes after, that

this vehicle overturned. >> reporter: at this point, no charges have been filed. investigators say based on where people were riding and seat belts apparently not being used, laws were clearly broken. live in atlantic city, i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. attorneys for revel casino were in court today asking a judge to move forward with the process to sell the struggling resort. they are more than $400 million in debt. a hearing was held this morning at federal bankruptcy court in camden. one attorney noted that the property has lost $75 million so far this year and continues to lose $2 million a week. revel opened in 2012 and has undergone one bankrupt sichlt now attorneys say they must be sold in two months or face closure. >> i co-see it all winter there was nobody in there. i was in there and half the tables were empty.

of an accident in south jersey involving a dump truck. this is route 55 in cumberland county. police were called here around 8:30 this morning. no one was hurt in the crash. it is under investigation right now. look at this truck that caught fire in camden county. sky force 10 in the atlantic city expressway. the fire melt aid good portion of the front of this truck. no one hurt here either. an elderly man is recovering after he was hit by a car in delaware county. nbc 10 on eagle and east darbiy. he had the right-of-way. the driver ran a red light. the man who was hit has just a few cuts to his arm. tracy morgan's spokesman relewised new information about the comedian's condition following the bad crash on the new jersey turnpike. morgan has been moved from a hospital to a rehabilitation facility.

he recould haves from a broken leg and ribs. morgan still has a long road to a full recovery. the van was hit from behind by a walmart truck on the turnpike nearly two weeks ago. a fellow comedian was killed. two other men were seriously hurt. a federal report says the truck driver was speeding before he slammed into the limo. investigators say he had been on the job about 13 hours at the time of the crash and had not slept in 24 hours. he has pleaded not guilty. local electric customers shocked when they opened their monthly bills. >> pennsylvania's top cop is taking action. there were times when there was no hope. i would have walked away from this hospital. i would have gone into foreclosure. >> strangers step in. the white collar workers getting their hands dirty and helping local people rebuild what was taken away. tinkering with the tax.

pennsylvania's unemployment rate continues its decline. the jobless rate for may was released today and stands at 5.6%, the lowest since september of 2008. nearly 5 1/2 years ago. the labor force, the number of people working or looking for jobs, shrank by 12,000 in may. you should have filled up that gas tank yesterday. i should have filled up the tank yesterday. a lot of gas station workers were busy changing their signs this morning. they went up for everyone across the region in pennsylvania. a gallon will now cost $3.76. in new jersey the price is 3.52. in delaware p$.66. pennsylvania's oil and gas groups have a warning about raising taxes. they say the enactment of a tax like other major gas producing states impose could make pennsylvania less competitive and drive the companies to shift

crews and rigs to other states. lawmakers are discussing a tax to ease a massive budget short fall. fixing this mess is going to take all night. that's what the philadelphia water department said when we spoke to them about an hour ago. sky force ten over third street in south philly. a 12-inch water main broke early this morning. a gas maun was also damaged. pgw is working to fix that. once that's done, the water department can come in and do what they need to do. about 130 homes are without water and gas right now. well, a very nice evening to hit the boards. nbc 10 live along the boardwalk in atlantic city on this last night of spring. what a fantastic way to end out spring and to bring in summer,

for that matter. as we go into the weekend, the first official weekend of summer is not going to be that hot, believe it or not. so far this weekend, it's actually going to be a little bit cooler. temperatures only around 80. there is a chance that we could have a shower across the area. the best chance does look to be south of philadelphia tomorrow. either way, you will see sun for part of your weekend. we will, in fact, stay dry for a little while, even as we go into part of next week. right now here is the beautiful look at center city. we have a lot of sun today. the low humidity is still out there. if you are heading out, it's going to feel fantastic. try to be outside. feels like 81 because our humidity is only 26%. that's pretty low, relatively low for this time of year. we still have the dry air mass in place. it will stay in place as we go into tonight. 79 in 'emmen town. 77 pottstown and west chester. 830 in dover where the firefly

festival is. nice each for that. 82 right now in millville. cooler along the shore, 72 in stone harbor with the cooler water temperatures. locally, we have absolutely no rain. we only have about partly cloudy skies around. if you look off to our west, you start to notice a lot of wet weather here. it is moving in our direction. as it does so, a lot of this moisture will actually be diving down to our south. we don't expect widespread rain as we go into the weekend. there's a chance that some of us may see a passing shower. it will not be ruining your saturday. here is what it looks like as we go into saturday. by 11:00 in the more than, we will have clouds around. a mix of clouds with some sun. and there's a chance a few of us may see a light passing shower through the afternoon. we may keep cloud cover around. as we go into sunday, it actually looks nice as we go into sunday. more sun and really nice end to your weekend. the uv index over the next few days is going to stay very high at a nine. this means that skin damage can

a bullet blasted through a window at a new york city hospital nearly hitting a patient. that bullet went through this window on the eighth floor in manhattan. a patient had cuts from broken glass. police haven't figured out if that room was intentionally targeted. there have been no arrests. a city bus just proves too much for one cincinnati street. a camera on the bus captured this video. watch as the bus hits a soft patch of road and the street collapses. here is the aftermath. the back end got stuck. the bus didn't fall in. the driver was the only one on board and was able to get out safely. the sinkhole, here it is, about 20 feet deep and 15 feet wide. >> it's huge. officials with the centers

for disease control say as many as 86 lab workers may have been exposed to anthrax. technicians didn't properly handle samples. the risk is low but they are providing antibiotics to members exposed. new detention centers opened for families caught crossing into the u.s. illegally. it comes amid of surge of people coming into the country from central america. the department of homeland security hasn't said how many families would be kept in these facilities or exactly where they're located. the old rivalry between the dog and the mailman has caused some people to lose their service. the postal service says this dog has attacked three letter carriers this year. people living at homes near max are not too keen about having to retrieve their mail from the

right now at 5:30, a party in delaware. look at the crowds. the firefly music festival. they're calling it a success. while the fun is just beginning, organizers have an exit plan. >> they say it should make for smooth sailing at the end of the weekend. tim furlong is live at 5:30 for us tonight in dover. they really thought this true. >> reporter: they kind of had to after last year. they admit it was not a good scene last year people trying to get in and out. this year, things are looking

better. last year it took some people five hours to get down here. this year it's about more parking lots, more ways in and out. a lot of fans getting here early on a sunny weekend in june. it's going to mix together with beach traffic. everybody will tell you, they wouldn't want it anywhere else. firefly 2014 is a great success. so successful, the governor will be here for the weekend to rock out with the fans and bands. this is the third year and firefly keeps growing. more fans every year. >> 35,000, 60,000, 80,000, this is one of the biggest, most important music festivals in the country. >> reporter: a company oust chicago produces the event. they say is the perfect site and region for them. it put $12 million into the state economy and created 157,000 hours of part-time work. of the 60,000 fans here, two-thirds of them had never

learned a 4-year-old boy involved in a crash on the atlantic city expressway died. this morning, a pickup truck carrying six people overturned on the westbound lanes. a second passenger in the cab was also killed. four others are also injured chltd state police say since all six were ejected, they believe no one was wearing a seat belt. osha is investigating a construction site collapse. crews were using heavy equipment just after noon to demolish an old blockbuster to built a new wawa. one of the workers was killed as they were trying to take down the final wall. an atlantic city casino returns to bankruptcy court. this is the second time in a little more than a year that revel has been there. the $2.4 billion casino needs help immediately to stay open until a buyer can be found. thousands of jobs could be at risk.

spiral. yesterday the president announced up to 300 military advisors will be sent to the country to train iraqi forces. new insight into the crisis in iraq. >> we turn to our retired koler in for background. a 26-year army veteran with overseas assignments. he was awarded two bronze stars. >> we heard the president talk about advisors being sent to iraq. you served as an adviser cht what does that entail? >> an adviser is a little bit different than boots on the ground in that you have a counterpart. it does a few things. number one, they bring extra skills besides the combat skills. they can have intelligence, logistics. they can have skilled that they bring to it. it's a smaller force. it's one on one or with small

units. they can have counterparts who receive benefit not only on the military side but also get good advice on the geo political situation. >> the obama administration is walking a fine line. how effective do the think the aadvisers can be? >> i think they can be very effective. not only are they going to give one on one advice which will help facilitate the situation right now and perhaps bring stability quicker than normal, but the other thing is that they give firsthand feedback to the national security team so that we're not just getting intel reports, we're getting it direct from the advisors who are right with the populous and working with the key forces and the key leaders of those forces. >> we know so much is contingent on the american intelligence gathering on the ground in iraq. >> the intelligence is always important. the best intelligence is what we

call umint. you can get some from surveillance or interrogation. but to have advisors there who are talking on a day-to-day basis, you are seeing the war through the eyes of the people. that is very, very important. >> is there any way to know how long this assignment might last for these advisers? >> that's open-ended right now. as they go along, they're going to see the value of having the advisers there on the ground. i'm thinking at least three months. >> thank you so much for joining us. we appreciate your time and your insight and expertise. our coverage continues. officers say it all started where they are accused of shooting a 25-year-old man. tonight he is in critical condition at cooper medical center. the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. a probe into how electric companies advertise their rates to consumers. the attorney general announced the state filed complaint against five out of state electric generation suppliers. this cops after consumer complaints about their electric costs going up by as much as 300%. the complaints allege that the companies enticed consumers by promising low rates for switching suppliers. tonight, it's the weekend. maybe you can get a few extra hours of sleep. >> the new findings about how much we're sleeping in america. a day for the dogs. one local office welcomes workers and their four-legged pals today. nbc 101 there for event that

tomorrow is an important day for parents. it's national ask day. parents are encouraged to ask whether there is an unlocked gun in the homes where their children play. child experts say one out of three homes with kids has a gun. over a million of those guns are unlocked and loaded. the ask campaign says parents should approach friends, family members, even home-based baby-sitters about gun safety. work less, sleep more.

it's a combination many americans would probably enjoy. but it turns out it's happening a lot more already. a new survey from the labor department shows americans are spending less time working and more time catching zzzs. researchers say the recession and retiring baby boomers contributed to their findings. in a survey of 11,000 americans, the average day's rest equalled eight hours and 45 minutes. today going to the dogs. that's because it's national take your dog to work day. pet 360 celebrated with barkapalooza. the department's newest puppy was there. he is named fox. that's in memory of a fallen officer, brad fox. it featured a fashion show, grooming and, of course, some dog-friendly treats. >> but i don't see your dog. i don't see sheena's dog. >> he decided not to come in.

two summers after sandy ravaged the coastline, volunteers are flocking to the shore to continue the rebuilding. >> today, bankers turned out for the start of a summer-long effort. brian thompson has the town. . >> reporter: these volunteers are more at home in a bank office than putting a home together board by board. >> i just learned how to put the word on. that there's a curve on the top and not on the bottom. >> reporter: an estimated 2,000-plus bankers from across much of new jersey will each spend a day volunteering in neptune rebuilding homes wiped out by sandy thanks to an initiative by the state bankers association. >> there were times when there

was no hope. >> reporter: pam is one of 300 owners in neptune hit hard by the storm. she remembers several feet of water in her house not realizing she would never move back in the home. now, thanks to these bankers and coastal habitat for humanity -- >> i would have walked away. i would have gone into foreclosure. >> reporter: she hopes to be back by thanksgiving. >> i'm in a house worrying about normal bills. these people's lives were destroyed. i want to help them get their lives back in order. >> reporter: for neptune, with at least 40 families out of their homes, it's a slow climb back. >> for so many people, sandy is a sdaft memory. for us, it's an every day, continual occurrence. it will be for me every day until every family is back. >> reporter: the bankers offered to come back next year if needed. coatal habitat says they may be

now at 6:00, in addition to an adult, now a 4-year-old child has died from his injuries after this accident on the atlantic city expressway. four others were hurt. as we told you, one person died earlier today. the crash happened this morning in the westbound lanes of the expressway. all of the crash victims are from philadelphia. all were ejected from that pickup truck. ted greenberg is at atlanta care regional care center with the information. >> reporter: certainly, a very sad update to bring you. minutes after we got off the air at 5:00, the new jersey state police say they received the official notification that the little boy who was critically injured in this terrible accident had died of his injuries. that 4-year-old was at cooper university hospital in camden. that's where the driver of the pickup truck, 45-year-old roselyn kornegay remains in

critical condition. she, the boy and 35-year-old james dennis were all in the cab of that pickup truck which crashed and flipped over in hamilton township around 7:00 this morning. dennis was killed. they were thrown out of the truck along with two men and a woman who state police say were all illegally riding in the vehicle's bed. those victims were taken here to atlanta care regional medical center. at last check, they were still listed in serious condition. they did not suffer injuries that were as serious. state police tell us that those in the front of the pickup truck in the cab were not wearing seat belts. those victims including that 4-year-old boy. live in atlantic city, i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. he was next to the wall. when the wall came down, it came down on top of him. >> a demolition project turns deadn
